Questions? Let’s Make Coffee Simple.
Whether you are choosing your first Ethiopian coffee, dialing in your brew, or checking an order, find a clear answer here.
Coffee & Choosing a Bag
Ethiopia is celebrated for extraordinary coffee diversity. Depending on origin, variety, processing and roast, a cup may show floral, citrus, berry, cocoa, spice or caramel-like qualities. Use the tasting notes on each Awel Buna product as your starting point.
Start with the flavour experience you enjoy. Choose brighter, aromatic coffees when you enjoy lively fruit and floral notes; choose deeper roasts or blends when you prefer cocoa, caramel, fuller body and a more traditional profile.
Whole bean gives you the most control and generally preserves freshness longer. If you choose ground coffee, select the grind that matches your brewing method.
Lighter roasts tend to preserve more origin character and brightness. Medium roasts balance origin character, sweetness and body. Darker profiles emphasize deeper roasted, cocoa and caramelized flavours.
Orders, Product Options & Freshness
Some Awel Buna products are available in multiple configurations. Select every required option before adding the item to your cart so the correct product variation and price are used.
Keep coffee sealed, cool, dry and away from direct sunlight, heat and strong odours. Open the package only as needed and reseal it carefully.
Choose a size based on how quickly you brew. A smaller bag is ideal for occasional brewing; larger sizes suit households or workplaces that brew more frequently.

Brewing & Troubleshooting
For many filter methods, a practical starting point is about 1 gram of coffee to 15–17 grams of water. Then adjust to your taste and brewer.
Sourness can indicate under-extraction. Try grinding slightly finer, extending brew contact time, or using appropriately hot water. Change one variable at a time.
Bitterness or dryness can come from over-extraction. Try a slightly coarser grind or shorter contact time, and keep your equipment clean.
